The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, is the biggest piece of fire safety legislation in recent times. As a result, the onus for fire safety falls at the feet of the responsible person to ensure a fire risk assessment is carried out and reviewed regularly, and that the onsite fire systems are subject to a maintenance regime that keeps them in good working order. With the growing number of prosecutions under the order it is more important than ever that systems are in place to ensure compliancy.

Portable Fire Fighting Equipment
• Fire extinguisher commissioning, inspection and maintenance to BS5306-3:2009
• Re charging stored pressure fire extinguishers when necessary
• Hose reel inspection and maintenance to BS5306-1:2006
• Fire blanket installation and inspections manufactured to BS EN1869:1997
• Inspection and maintenance of portable foam equipment to BS5306-1:2006
Hydrant and Automatic Sprinkler Systems
• Test and inspection of manually operated sprinkler and hose systems to BS9990:2006
• Test and inspection of automatic fixed fire systems to BSEN 12845:2004+A2:2009
Fire Doors (Timber and Metal)
• Periodic inspection of metal and timber fire doors to BS8214:2008
Emergency Lighting
• Testing of key operated emergency lighting to BS5266-1: 2005
• Annual 1 hr and 3hr failure test of key operated emergency lighting to BS5266-1: 2006
Fire Alarms and Detection Systems
• Test and inspection of alarms and detection systems including smoke detectors (where applicable) and manual call points to BS5839-1:2002+A2:2008
Emergency Escape Routes
• Visual audits of emergency escape routes and signage on site. This is probably the most important and overlooked element of fire safety. Failures to maintain escape routes have been the main cause of litigation under the Fire Safety Order since its implementation in 2006.
Lay Flat Hoses
• Inspection and test of non percolating lay flat hoses to BS 6391:2009
All inspections are recorded and managed by Promanex including defects found, provision of costs to rectify the defects where applicable and carry out urgent defects quickly. This enables our customers to focus on their core business activities safe in the knowledge that their fire safety is being managed professionally and efficiently. All records are kept centrally to be made available as evidence of fire system maintenance for your fire risk assessment and for auditing purposes should your quality system require it.
Fire Risk Assessment
In addition to the services above Promanex can also provide fire risk assessments, working in partnership with reputable and qualified Fire Consultant in line with the Fire Safety Order using the industry recognised format PAS 79. We can then help to manage and review your fire risk assessment, ensuring that any remedial works are carried as detailed in your risk assessment.
