Legionella Consultancy and Training
As stated in paragraph 45 of the Approved Code of Practice L8 :-
“Those who are appointed to carry out the control measures and strategies should be suitably informed, instructed and trained and their suitability assessed. They should be properly trained to a standard which ensures that tasks are carried out in a safe, technically competent manner.”
Promanex understand the varied training needs of our customers, therefore we have developed a range of different tools that can be incorporated and tailored into a specific programme to cover your requirements, these include:
On- site legionella awareness training courses
Our on-site legionella awareness training courses are ideal for customers with groups of six to twelve personnel with training requirements, suitable for all levels. The legionella awareness training can be tailored to suit the requirements of your staff, however we would normally cover the following areas:
- Legionella; the organism and its history;
- Legionellosis; the disease and the causal chain;
- Health & Safety Legislation – The Health and Safety Commissions, L8, “ The Control of Legionella Bacteria in Water Systems”, “Approved Code of Practice and Guidance”, 2001
- Systems at risk;
- Control and monitoring requirements;
- Record keeping.
Legionella Awareness Seminars
Our highly experienced teams deliver full and half day seminars throughout the country covering all topics outlined in the onsite training courses. The seminars are ideal for customers with individual or small numbers of personnel with training requirements, suitable for all levels.
Interactive Legionella Training CD-ROM
Our CD-ROM package is ideal for operators and responsible persons alike and provides detailed information on legionella, and its control. The course can be completed leisurely at the comfort of their own desk. The CD serves as an ideal refresher for operatives.
Supplied as a corporate training CD-Rom, the programme can be undertaken as part of a workshop or alone as a part of an individual’s personal and technical development. The programme is split into the following sections:
Section 1 – Understanding Legionnaires’ disease
Section 2 – Effective management
Section 3 – Cooling system design and operation
Section 4 – Domestic water systems design and operation
Section 5 – Monitoring and testing
Section 6 – Basic water treatment chemistry
At the end of each section is a questionnaire, and failure to pass will stop the trainee from proceeding to the next section. It will, however direct the trainee to where these answers can be found in the previous section.
At the end of the course, an individually named and signed certificate will be awarded to the trainee and can be printed off as confirmation that he or she has completed this structured training.
